Full Moon Party Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan is a unique and very special Island in the Gulf of Thailand, it is sheltered from heavy weather  and maintains one of the best climates in the region.  The Full Moon Party has bought the Island global  notoriety and it's a fantastic place to party, but Koh Phangan also has many other sides to amaze its visitors.  The Full Moon is far more than a party ; it is Had Rin's  dance music festival, with everything from drum ans  bass to full-on psy-trance. This wide, sandy beach in  the beach in the south of Pha Ngan is one of the  most beautiful ones. Had Rin is actually comprised of two popular beaches, Rin Nai Beach on west side of the peninsula and Rin Nok on the east side.

From Rin Nai beach you can see Koh Samui very cleary. This is also a great place  to catch the sunset. On the beach os Rin Nok is Bang Rak pier where the ferryboats from koh south Samui arrive and leave daily. Rin Nok beach is well known among Thai as well as the foreigner tourist for its " Full Moon Party " . This spot is ranked as the third most beautiful spot in the world to view the full moon. For this reason on every full moon night a great number of tourists from all over the world flock here to take part in the famous celebration, stores and restaurants available on the island. Had Rin is located on the southeastern tip of the island, 12 kilometers south from the district Office in Ban Thong Sala or take a ferry directly from Koh Samui to get there.

Where to Stay for The Full Moon Party
Most party goers choose to stay in Haadrin, which is where the full moon party takes place. There are lots of small hotels, resorts and guest houses in Haadrin - but most do not take online bookings or are not of a very high quality. We find that it is often a better solution to stay in either Bankai or Bantai Beaches, where there are lots of resorts of a very high quality. All will offer transportation to and from the party itself and/or taxis are readily available during the party night. Besides, we are talking only about 5-10 minutes of transportation.

Minimum Stays and Other Requirements
You can be absolutely certain that most of the hotels in or near Haadrin Beach will have a minimum stay of 3 nights - most actually up to 5 or even 7 nights. As a rule of thumb, the further you move away from the party area the shorter a stay you can get away with.

The Rock Full Moon Party Venue The Rock is one of the best places on the beach to chill out and get view of the whole party. It is situated at the southern end of Haad Rin on (you guessed it) a big rock. Expect soulful funky tunes mixed by DJ Kim and the best cocktails on the beach.	Cactus Bar Full Moon Party Venue The Cactus is one of the first places you come to as you enter Haad Rin Beach, Its right in the middle so it gets a load of punters, especially as the sun comes up. Expect a more commercial sound with RnB, hip hop, old skool classics and even the odd bit of rock.
Paradise Bungalows Full Moon Party Venue The home of the Original Full Moon Party, Paradise is still the biggest and best venue consistently putting on the largest show. If a big name is visiting the island, you will normally find them here playing alongside the amazing resident DJ A who has more or less coined the tough progressive sound of Haad Rin.	Vinyl Club Full Moon Party Venue DJ Dam at the Vinyl Club bangs out full psy-trance and driving techno to one of the biggest crowds on the beach. It has a monster sound system, loads of podiums to shake yer booty on and more than its fair share of hardcore space cadets.

   

Drop In Club
Drop In is another long runner that has been playing a more commercial set to the huge crowd that gathers there. It has loads of different places to chill out and watch the action; playing chart, RnB, hip hop and dancefloor classics.


Same-Same
Warm up the evening with some live music at Same-Same Lodge; the band play covers from Rock to Pop on a pro sound system to keep the crowds coming back for more.
Sunrise Beach Club
Live DJs start playing 5 days before Full Moon, serving up Funky and Electro House, which alternates with a D&B, Jungle theme by the Orchid Club, Living Tribe DJ team.

     


Outback Bar
If you want to escape the pandemonium and hear some deep and funky house, head to the Outback near the main pier with its no trance music policy. Check out the stunning decor, a brilliantly stocked bar and an excellent menu make this a popular choice.

Eagle Bar Presents and Ibiza Style Sunset
There's a brand new look to the previous graffiti style that the Eagle Bar became known for. Now looking sophisticated and classy, this rather lush bar is situated right at the left end of the bay as you view the sea, on arguably the best sunset beach on Koh Phanagan. And that's the reason why starting Sunday Dec 21st sees the launch of fab new late afternoon/evening party replicating the vibe you would find at Mambo/Cafe Del Mar in San Antonio, Ibiza. Chilled beats and the Del Mar sunset style leading into groovy house as you say goodbye to the day and welcome the night. Weekly resident is former top Kiss 100 DJ (8 years in DJ Mag's influential Top 100) Graham Gold, now a KP resident also! The part starts at 4pm and continues till late!


New Years Eve December 31st Not everyone wants the total madness of Haad Rin and the psy trance that goes with it, and to save you the journey from the north west of the island all the way to the south, the Eagle Bar is putting on yet again another great NYE party!! With Graham Gold and the boys from Phunkd whipping up the crowd, complete with body painters and fireshows, this a superb option to Haad Rin. Totally free of course, the party starts at 8pm and goes till sunrise!

The Black Moon Party

The Black Moon Party happens approximately 15 days before (or after) the full moon. It takes place on Bantai beach, at Mac's Bay resort, just few meters after the 7-Eleven. Unlike the full moon party, there is here only one sound (mega sound suits better, as we have here at least 10 kilowatts) and Djs follow each other all night long playing their own tunes on the deck. Don't expect a Free-Party, as most of the parties, apart from the full moon, have now an entry fee. But don't worry as it's still affordable to all, as only 300 baht will be asked, and it includes a drink. The music here is barely exclusively Techno Trance, for the pleasure of the crowd there, which loves it !!

And the atmosphere follows with a totally trippy scenery design, 100% psychedelic, with fluo paintings and cotton weavings arranged everywhere on the ground and in the trees and glowing with the black lights. A very good party, especially during the high season, when high quality international Djs are invited to play. It's a favorite among ravers, as it's still on the beach, but much closer to free-parties than the Full Moon Party.
